"Get Caught Reading" Guess Who Buddy!

Celebrate "Get Caught Reading" Month with Dinosaur Train and Reader's Digest Children's Publishing! And Help Others "Get Caught Reading" Too!

Two years in a row Dinosaur Train's Buddy, has celebrated with the Association of American Publishers "Get Caught Reading" campaign. This campaign is devised to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read!

As many of you know, reading to your children is a healthy start in a children's development, even research as proven that early language experience stimulates a child's brain to grow and reading to children gives them a huge advantage when they start school. And this is what the "Get Caught Reading" Campaign is all about, encouraging people of all ages to enjoy books and magazines and to share that pleasure with the young children in their lives!

Help Others "Get Caught Reading" too with a Local Book Drive!

Did you Know??...A recent study shows that while in middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of age-appropriate books per child is 13 to 1, in low-income neighborhoods the ratio is 1 for every 300 children.

The most successful way to improve the reading achievement of low-income children is to increase their access to print. Communities ranking high in achievement tests have several factors in common: an abundance of books in public libraries, easy access to books in the community at large and a large number of textbooks per student.

Anyone can get together to help increase reading achievement and literacy by organizing a book drive. This Tool Kit provides the basics to run a book drive, organize your group, and make an impact.

Or, Simply commit to donating your gently used books to local organizations. Here are some tips:

* Consider libraries, non-profit children's organizations for homeless, foster children and struggling families, Goodwill and Children's Hospital's thrift stores, and after-school programs.
* Call the charity or organization and see if they accept used children's books and what their guidelines are.
* Go through your books and make sure all pages are present, readable and stain-free.

You can also check Donation Town, an online directory of charities that offer donation pick up services.

Jim Henson Company and Reader's Digest Children's Publishing's newest Released Book: "Guess Who, Buddy!"

I am super excited to be able to team up with these two great companies and review their newest book "Guess Who, Buddy!". I have to admit, this book is super adorable book and my girls enjoyed the illustrations as well as the content. They had so much fun trying to figure out which Dinosaur was hiding behind the flap, and their eyes would burst into excitement when each Dinosaur was revealed. This is a great book to "Get Caught Reading" to your kids!!
Guess Who, Buddy!:
What's that dinosaur? That's the question Buddy needs to answer as he plays a guessing game with his friends. The best part, Kids can play along with Buddy by reading the clues Buddy's friends left for them, then lifting up the flap to see if they guessed right. A surprise pop-up on the last page adds to the charm of this book.

We absolutely love reading in our house! We go to the library 3-4 times a week and have well over 1,000 books in our home! My girls love Buddy the dinosaur, so we'll be looking for this book the next time we go! Thanks! :)

its interesting how people dont seem to utilize the library. And those that dont have such few books at home, if any, for the children. I remember as a nanny those families that didnt get a library card, had so many video games, and so few books.

On a side note, kind of, i bet in the next 10-15 years, i stead of a book drive there will be a itunes drive or amazon drive to get Ebooks
